Whether you are doing a tool belt relay or serving up dirt dessert from the bed of a bright yellow dump truck, a Construction Zone Party is sure to please your Little One. Planning a construction zone party is a breeze, and party activities are practically built right in.
Define construction (party) zone with classic yellow and black construction site tape and Construction Zone signs. These may be purchased or made at home using posterboard, paints, and markers. This not only sets the stage for your construction zone, it clearly marks out boundaries for little partiers.
Purchase large, plastic dump trucks to use as serving dishes, and when the party is over, guests may take their own home. It is easy to personalize these with paint pens and dot to dot kiddie writing. These large trucks can be found at most dollar shops. As an alternative, brown paper bag lunches may be served.
Cake may be a simple sheet cake served in a paint tray, and a putty knife may be used as a serving tool. Chips and other foods may be served in new, clean paint cans.
Purchase individual tool belts with toy tools. Have your guests choose teams, or divide them randomly. Distribute tools around the play area, and when the whistle blows, a member of the team races to fill the tool belt with one of each toy. Then, that person runs to a team mate, who in turn runs to empty the belt again. That is continued until each player has had a turn, and those to finish first, win the game. Tool belts may be taken home as party favors.
